Details

The purpose of the Diploma in Event Management is to contribute to the responsible and sustainable development of event management skills in support of economic growth, for employment and employment creation within South Africa and to establish an ethic of lifelong learning growth and achievement within the event sector.
Qualifying learners will be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge of the event industry and put the knowledge into practice by supporting, coordinating and managing events to the level of competence and professionalism expected by the international event industry.

Including one of the following: TOUR, ECO, HS, BUS, ACC, CAT, IT (no rating required).
Applicants must submit a motivation letter detailing their reasons for applying and indicating their understanding of the industry and the possible career prospects.

Career Prospects

  • Event coordinator at South African hospitality groups or conference venues, managing corporate and social functions from planning through to execution.
  • Wedding and private function planner working independently or within an events agency, catering to South Africa’s growing private celebrations market.
  • Corporate events manager at large South African companies or government departments, overseeing product launches, conferences, and staff engagement events.
  • Festival and cultural events organiser working with municipalities or arts organisations to produce public events such as the Cape Town Jazz Festival or Johannesburg Arts Alive.
  • Venue operations manager at convention centres or hotels such as the CTICC or Sandton Convention Centre, coordinating logistics and client services for large-scale events.
