The Bachelor of the Built Environment in Urban and Regional Planning at DUT is a three-year degree preparing graduates for one of South Africa's recognised scarce skills. Urban and regional planners help communities and government agencies manage land use, develop spatial plans, and respond to population growth and urban change — critical work as South Africa implements the National Development Plan 2030 and the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act. Graduates work in planning firms, municipalities, provincial authorities, and state-owned enterprises across the country.
