Details

The Bachelor of Dietetics at the University of Pretoria is a four-year professional degree in the Faculty of Health Sciences that qualifies graduates to practise as dietitians, registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Students develop expertise in nutritional science, clinical dietetics, community nutrition, food service management, and public health nutrition — equipping them to assess and manage the nutritional needs of individuals and communities across all life stages and clinical conditions. South Africa's dual burden of malnutrition — including both under-nutrition in poor communities and obesity-related non-communicable diseases in all socioeconomic groups — creates significant demand for qualified dietitians across public hospitals, private healthcare, community health, and industry.

Admission requirements: English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 5 (60-69%); Mathematics: Level 4 (50-59%); Physical Science or Life Sciences: Level 4 (50-59%); APS: 28 (excluding Life Orientation).
