The National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC), under the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), invites South African students to apply for its External Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year. The programme supports the development of skilled professionals in disaster risk reduction and emergency management.
The bursary is open to students who have applied for, been accepted into, or are currently registered for an Undergraduate, Postgraduate Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Master’s programme in Disaster Management or Fire Technology/Fire Engineering at a recognised public higher education institution in South Africa. Certificate courses and PhD qualifications are excluded.
Successful applicants receive 100% tuition fee support including registration fees. Please note that accommodation, meals, books, and travel costs are not covered. Master’s students may also qualify for a research allowance capped at R11 000. Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply, and eligible candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible as the bursary programme is highly competitive.
Please note: incomplete applications, applications submitted by email, late applications, password protected documents, and corrupted documents will not be considered.
