The Xylem SA Trust is offering bursaries for the 2027 academic year to Black South African students studying in fields that support the country’s water security and critical infrastructure needs. These include engineering, water science, sanitation, hydrology, environmental health, and infrastructure technology, as well as relevant TVET qualifications.
South Africa faces serious water and infrastructure challenges, and this bursary is designed to build a pipeline of skilled graduates who can help address them. The Trust is funded by Xylem Inc, a global water technology company, and awards bursaries to students who have a strong academic record and demonstrate financial need.
The application is done in two stages. The first is a short online application that checks your eligibility. Students who pass this stage will receive further instructions and may be asked to submit additional supporting documents.
The following documents are compulsory with your first application, and must be in PDF format. If either is missing, your application may be disqualified.
Shortlisted candidates who pass the initial application may be asked for further documents. These could include a certified copy of your ID, your Matric certificate, your most recent exam results, a fee statement or pro forma invoice, a motivational letter, and a bursary agreement if you receive other funding. Research students may also be asked for a progress report or supervisor motivation.
The information provided on this page is for general guidance only and may be subject to change. We recommend verifying details directly with the bursary provider. Funding is not guaranteed, and eligibility does not ensure an award.
