The BEd Senior Phase and FET at UKZN (Edgewood) prepares teachers for Grades 7 to 12, covering both the Senior Phase (Grades 7–9) and the Further Education and Training phase (Grades 10–12) of South African schooling. Students specialise in two teaching subjects from a broad range of NSC disciplines, allowing them to teach at secondary schools across South Africa. With South Africa facing persistent shortages of qualified secondary school teachers, particularly in mathematics, sciences, and languages, graduates from this programme are in strong national demand.
