The BEd in Senior Phase and FET Teaching specialising in IsiZulu at UJ qualifies graduates to teach IsiZulu as a Home Language or First Additional Language to learners in Grades 7–12. Students develop advanced competency in IsiZulu linguistics and literature alongside pedagogy, curriculum studies, and school-based practice — equipping them to serve South Africa's largest home-language speaking community across KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, and beyond. IsiZulu is the most widely spoken home language in South Africa and is actively promoted as a language of instruction and scholarly engagement.
