Overview/Details

SAMA invites applications for its bursary programme for the 2025 academic year, targeting students pursuing Medical studies (MB ChB or MB BCh). The bursary provides R20,000 per annum, exclusively for tuition fees, paid directly to the university. It is valid for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on academic performance.

Requirements

  • South African citizenship
  • Completed Matric
  • Currently studying towards an MB ChB or MB BCh degree
  • Entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study in 2025 (1st-year students are not eligible)
  • Enrolled at a recognized medical school in South Africa
  • Strong academic record
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Students from historically disadvantaged groups are encouraged to apply
  • Preference given to SAMA members
    1. Prepare clear, certified copies of the following supporting documents:
      • ID document
      • Latest exam results
      • Two recent written testimonials
      • Parents’ or guardians’ proof of household income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, proof of SASSA grant or pension if applicable)
      • Details of any other bursary funding currently received (if applicable)
    2. Submit the application and supporting documents via:
