Overview/Details

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) has opened a direct bursary funding window for the 2027 academic year. Public universities and TVET colleges are invited to apply for bursary funding on behalf of financially needy and deserving students who are registered at their institutions.

The aim of the funding window is to support financially needy students who will study at these institutions in 2027 towards programmes aligned to the MQA Sector Skills Plan. A total of 500 bursary opportunities are available for unemployed bursars.

The bursary funding is administered and regulated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the MQA and the institution. This means the application is made by the institution, so students should speak to their university or TVET college about whether it is applying.
