2027 Monocle Foundation Bursary

Overview/Details

The Monocle Foundation Trust is a philanthropic educational trust established in 2014 with a singular focus: empowering previously disadvantaged Black South African women to fulfil their potential through access to tertiary education. The Foundation is the social investment arm of Monocle, a South African professional services and consulting firm, and reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to personal development and education beyond its own workforce.

The bursary is one of the more comprehensive funding packages available to women in South Africa. Recipients receive tuition fees, accommodation fees, a laptop, a book and study material allowance, a subsistence allowance, career counselling, and a free Microsoft Office course. Importantly, the bursary comes with no obligation to pay back or work back the funds, making it a genuine grant rather than a loan-based or employment-conditional scheme.

Shortlisted candidates go through a personal screening and interview process with the Trust Administrator and Trustees, and all applicants receive feedback on the outcome of their application. Successful applicants are confirmed before mid-December 2026.
