Details

The Diploma in Plant Science with Crop Production at NWU's Mahikeng campus is a three-year applied qualification that develops students' expertise in crop production, soil management, plant pathology, and agricultural technology. Students gain practical and theoretical skills in managing field crops, vegetables, and horticultural produce within South Africa's diverse agro-ecological zones, with particular relevance to the semi-arid conditions prevalent in the North West Province. As South Africa works to expand smallholder and emerging farmer participation in the agricultural sector, plant scientists play a critical role in improving yields, reducing losses, and supporting food security. Graduates are equipped to contribute directly to crop production enterprises and agricultural advisory services across the country.
