Details

The purpose of this qualification is to equip learners with knowledge and skills with a focus on entrepreneurship and small business development and management.

Entrepreneurship encompasses entrepreneurial thought (creative thinking) and action (innovation) to start and manage an enterprise. Business Management comprises the application of management principles and an entrepreneurial spirit to manage and grow a business.

Including one of the following at level 4 (50%) Business Studies, Economics, Accounting and
Consumer Studies. Applicants with Technical Maths at level 5 (60%) would be considered.

Career Prospects

  • Business owner or founder of a small to medium enterprise (SME), contributing to South Africa’s economy and job creation goals outlined in the National Development Plan.
  • Business development officer at a South African bank or financial institution such as FNB or Nedbank, supporting entrepreneurs and SMEs with funding and advisory services.
  • Franchise manager or franchisee within South Africa’s growing franchise sector, operating businesses in retail, food service, or professional services.
  • Enterprise development consultant at a corporate company fulfilling its B-BBEE enterprise and supplier development obligations by supporting black-owned businesses.
  • Business incubator or accelerator programme coordinator at organisations such as the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) or the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), mentoring emerging entrepreneurs.
