The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Pretoria is a four-year undergraduate professional law degree that qualifies graduates to practise as attorneys or advocates in South Africa's legal system after completing the required practical training. The programme covers all major areas of South African law including constitutional, criminal, contract, property, commercial, labour, administrative, and family law — developing the legal reasoning, research, and advocacy skills required by the Legal Practice Council. It is generally recommended that students first complete either the three-year Bachelor of Arts specialising in Law or Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Law before proceeding to the LLB, though direct entry is possible.
