The Bachelor of Commerce in Forensic Accountancy at NWU is a three-year Potchefstroom degree and one of South Africa's most specialised undergraduate qualifications, training students in the detection and investigation of financial fraud, corruption, and economic crime. South Africa's state capture revelations and high levels of corporate and public sector fraud have created significant demand for forensic accounting professionals capable of uncovering financial misconduct. Students study financial investigation, forensic auditing, evidence law, cyber fraud, and professional ethics, developing the technical and analytical skills to support law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and private sector investigations. Graduates are eligible for membership with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).

Forensic Accountant – Investigate financial fraud, corruption, and asset misappropriation for South African law enforcement agencies, the SIU, AFSA, or private forensic accounting firms.
Anti-Corruption Investigator – Conduct financial investigations into state capture, procurement fraud, and public sector corruption for organs of state or Chapter 9 institutions such as the Public Protector or Auditor-General South Africa.
Fraud Risk Manager – Develop and implement fraud prevention frameworks and compliance programmes for South African banks, insurers, and JSE-listed companies.
Forensic Auditor – Audit financial records to detect irregularities and prepare forensic reports for use in South African litigation, disciplinary proceedings, or criminal prosecutions.
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) – Qualify with the ACFE and work as a specialist fraud examiner for South African corporates, financial institutions, or government entities.
