The Bachelor of Education in Senior Phase and FET Teaching (Economic and Management Science) at Walter Sisulu University is a four-year degree delivered at both the Mthatha and Komani campuses. It trains educators to teach Accounting, Business Studies, and Economics — the core EMS subjects — in Grades 7 to 12. The programme develops subject content depth alongside pedagogical competence and classroom-based practical experience, preparing graduates to address South Africa's need for well-qualified commerce subject teachers, particularly in rural and township schools where subject specialists are scarce. Students must demonstrate competency in at least two of the three EMS subjects.
