If you have been searching for University of South Africa (UNISA) qualifications on our platform and noticed they are not showing up, this post explains why and what we are doing about it.
What happened
UNISA has updated how it applies admission requirements across its qualifications. Rather than using a single standardised APS scale, UNISA now evaluates admission on a per-qualification basis, meaning the thresholds and subject requirements differ from programme to programme.
The data we had stored for UNISA qualifications reflected an older, uniform APS model that no longer matches what UNISA actually requires. Showing that data to students would mean they could calculate their eligibility against criteria that are no longer accurate, and potentially apply to or rule out programmes based on incorrect information. That is not something we are willing to do.
What we have done
We have temporarily removed all UNISA qualifications from our search results, qualification listings, and APS eligibility tools. The University of South Africa still appears in our university directory, and all other information about the institution remains available.
When will UNISA qualifications return
We are working through UNISA's qualification catalogue and updating each programme's requirements individually to reflect the current criteria. We will restore qualifications to the platform in batches as they are verified, rather than waiting until every single one is done.
If you need UNISA qualification and admission information in the meantime, the most reliable source is UNISA's official qualifications directory at unisa.ac.za.
A note on data accuracy
We take the accuracy of admission requirements seriously because the consequences of bad data fall on students, not on us. A student who rules out a programme because of an incorrect APS score, or who applies without knowing about a subject requirement, loses real time and opportunity. We would rather show fewer qualifications than misleading ones.
We appreciate your patience while we work through the updates.
