The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Zululand develops graduates with the critical reasoning of philosophy and the scientific understanding of human behaviour offered by psychology. Together, the disciplines equip students to interrogate complex ethical questions, understand mental processes, and engage with the foundational assumptions of both the social and natural sciences. In South Africa's context of inequality, trauma, and social transformation, graduates who can think clearly and compassionately about human experience are in demand across healthcare, education, research, and public discourse.

Researcher – Conduct qualitative or quantitative research on human behaviour, social issues, or philosophical questions for academic institutions or policy organisations.
Social Worker (Further Study) – Use the BA foundation to enter a social work or community counselling postgraduate programme.
Educator – Teach philosophy, life orientation, or social sciences in secondary schools after completing a PGCE or postgraduate teaching qualification.
