The BSc Extended Curriculum Programme is designed to broaden access to science degrees for students who show academic potential but may not fully meet standard entry requirements, often due to educational disadvantage. The programme includes an extended first year that builds foundational competencies in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and academic literacy before students progress into the mainstream BSc curriculum. It plays a critical role in South Africa's transformation agenda by increasing the participation of historically underrepresented students in science and technology fields.
