The Bachelor of Arts at the University of Pretoria is a three-year degree in the Faculty of Humanities that is chosen by more students than any other programme in the faculty, owing to its adaptability across a wide range of disciplines. Students explore disciplines and proceed with those best suited to their interests and abilities, with an extraordinarily wide choice of subject combinations spanning languages, social sciences, visual arts, performing arts, politics, psychology, history, philosophy, communication, and more. The programme requires compulsory foundational modules in Academic Information Management and Academic Literacy in the first year, ensuring all students develop strong research and communication foundations. Since the programme allows for two core disciplines, graduates have multiple postgraduate pathways, and good planning ensures they have the same chance of postgraduate selection as those enrolled in more specialised programmes.
