The Western Cape Government: Health and Wellness Full-Time Bursary Programme provides financial aid to unemployed public residents of the Western Cape. It aims to support students pursuing qualifications in health science fields that align with the department’s critical skills needs. Successful bursars are expected to complete a work-back obligation within the department upon graduation. The programme also supports professional development through community service projects.

Requirements

  • Must be an unemployed individual residing in the Western Cape.
  • Must be accepted or registered in one of the approved Health Science study fields at a South African higher education institution.
  • Selection is based on departmental service delivery needs, academic merit, and available funding.
  • Commitment to working within the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness post-qualification.

  • BSc Radiography (Diagnostic, Ultrasound, Therapy)
  • B Nursing Degree
  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery
  • BSc in Occupational Therapy
  • BSc in Physiotherapy
  • MBChB (Medicine)
  • Speech Therapy
  • Higher Certificate in Nursing (R169)
  • Diploma in Nursing (R171 General Nurse)
  • R174 Nursing
  • Higher Certificate in Emergency Care Assistant
  • National Diploma in Emergency Medical Care
  • Diploma in Emergency Medical Care
