Details

The Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching at TUT prepares students to teach Grade R to Grade 3, covering literacy, numeracy, life skills, and early childhood development in South Africa's multilingual and diverse classroom environments. Students receive training in a home language offered in the programme as well as a first additional language, equipping them to serve learners across South Africa's 11 official language communities. The programme responds to South Africa's persistent literacy and numeracy crisis by developing educators with strong subject knowledge and evidence-based pedagogical skills for the critical foundation years. Cooperative education includes school-based practice in Gauteng and Limpopo township and rural schools.
