The BSc Engineering Access Programme at UKZN (Howard College) is a five-year alternative pathway into the BSc in Engineering for academically promising students from disadvantaged educational backgrounds who did not achieve the standard engineering entry requirements. The programme provides intensive academic support in its extended first year before transitioning students into the mainstream four-year engineering degree. Limited to applicants from Quintile 1 and 2 schools, it represents UKZN's commitment to broadening access to the engineering profession in South Africa while maintaining academic rigour.
