The BEngTech in Mechanical Engineering at TUT provides applied training in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, manufacturing processes, and maintenance engineering — disciplines essential to South Africa's mining, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Students complete cooperative education in engineering firms, mines, and production facilities, developing hands-on competencies in mechanical systems design and plant maintenance. The programme is ECSA-aligned, leading to registration as an Engineering Technician or Technologist. Graduates are employed across a wide range of industries including Transnet, Eskom, automotive OEMs, and the rapidly growing renewable energy and mining equipment sectors.
