The Bachelor of Divinity (BDiv) at Stellenbosch University is a four-year theological degree that serves as the first step in ministerial formation for students called to ordained ministry in the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC), the Uniting Reformed Church (URC), and related Reformed denominations. The curriculum covers biblical languages, exegesis, dogmatics, church history, missiology, and practical theology, building the academic and spiritual foundations required for ministry in South Africa's complex, multicultural, and multilingual church context. Together with the MDiv — and, for DRC candidates, the Postgraduate Diploma in Theology (Christian Ministry) — the BDiv forms part of the full pathway to ordination.
