Details

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BEngTech) in Chemical Engineering at UJ is a three-year NQF Level 7 degree offered at the Doornfontein Campus through the Department of Chemical Engineering Technology. The programme develops graduates who can design, operate, and manage chemical processes in industrial settings — including petrochemical plants, food processing facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and water treatment operations.

South Africa's mining, energy, and manufacturing sectors create sustained demand for chemical engineering technologists who can bridge the gap between laboratory research and large-scale industrial production. UJ's programme is accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), preparing graduates for registration as Professional Engineering Technologists.

Admission requires a minimum APS of 30 (excluding Life Orientation), English at 50%, Mathematics or Technical Mathematics at 60%, and Physical Science at 60%. NCV applicants require English and Mathematics at 60%. Selection is based on academic merit.
