The Bachelor of Health Sciences in Medical Laboratory Science at DUT is a four-year professional degree that qualifies graduates for registration with the HPCSA as Medical Laboratory Scientists. Students develop expertise in pathology, haematology, medical microbiology, clinical chemistry, immunohematology, and cytology — gaining clinical experience at partner laboratories including the National Health Laboratory Service, South African Blood Services, and Lancet and Ampath private laboratories. Laboratory science is central to South Africa's disease diagnostic and management capacity.
