The Bachelor of Arts specialising in Languages at the University of Pretoria is a three-year degree in the Faculty of Humanities that equips students with integrated communication skills and in-depth knowledge of the grammar, literature, and culture of at least two languages of their choice. Students may major in Afrikaans, English, German, French, Portuguese, Spanish, isiZulu, isiNdebele, Sepedi, or other languages, developing both theoretical linguistic knowledge and practical language competencies. If students wish to become formal language practitioners, UP recommends continuing to the BAHons in Applied Language Studies after completing the degree.
