The Bachelor of Arts in Youth Development at the University of Venda prepares students to work with young people in South Africa, addressing the social, educational, economic, and psychological challenges facing youth in a context of high unemployment, inequality, and social exclusion. Students study youth policy, community development, life skills facilitation, and programme management, gaining the practical and theoretical tools to design and implement youth development interventions. South Africa's youthful population — where more than 60% of the population is under 35 — makes this degree critically relevant for the public, NGO, and private sectors.

Youth Development Worker – Designs and implements youth empowerment, skills development, and social cohesion programmes for government, the National Youth Development Agency, and NGOs.
Life Skills Facilitator – Delivers life skills, leadership, and career guidance programmes to young people in schools, correctional facilities, and community centres.
Programme Coordinator (NGO) – Manages youth-focused development programmes for civil society organisations working on education, employment, and social inclusion.
Government Youth Officer – Implements youth policy and programmes at municipal, provincial, and national government level including the Presidency’s Youth Employment Service (YES).
Community Development Practitioner – Facilitates community-driven development projects addressing youth unemployment, GBV, and social challenges in South African communities.
