The Bachelor of Community Development at the University of the Western Cape prepares graduates to facilitate sustainable development in South Africa's townships, rural areas, and marginalised urban communities.   1. Community Development Worker: Facilitate community-driven development initiatives aimed at addressing local needs, promoting social inclusion, and enhancing community resilience. Community development workers collaborate with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to identify priorities, mobilize resources, and implement projects that improve living conditions, economic opportunities, and social well-being.
  2.   7. Urban or Rural Planner: Plan and design sustainable and inclusive communities, neighbourhoods, and public spaces that meet the needs and aspirations of residents while promoting social equity, economic development, and environmental sustainability. Urban or rural planners collaborate with community members, local governments, and stakeholders to develop land use plans, zoning regulations, and infrastructure projects that enhance community well-being and resilience.
  8. Nonprofit Program Manager: Manage and oversee nonprofit organizations and programs that address community needs and promote social change, overseeing program development, implementation, evaluation, and fundraising activities. Nonprofit program managers ensure program effectiveness, financial sustainability, and alignment with organizational missions and goals, making a positive impact on communities and beneficiaries.
