The Bachelor of Consumer Studies at NWU is a three-year Potchefstroom programme that examines the relationship between consumers and the goods, services, and environments that shape their lives. Students study consumer behaviour, product development, food science, clothing, and household economics within the South African socioeconomic context, developing the analytical skills to inform product design, retail strategy, and consumer policy. The programme addresses South Africa's need for professionals who understand diverse consumer needs across income groups, cultures, and geographies. Graduates are equipped to contribute to FMCG companies, government consumer protection bodies, research organisations, and the fast-growing retail sector.
