The Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies at the University of Zululand examines the theories and practices of social, economic, and political development in South Africa and the broader African continent. The programme engages with issues of poverty, inequality, governance, health, rural livelihoods, and community empowerment — with particular relevance to KwaZulu-Natal's rural communities and the Northern regions of the province where UNIZULU is located. Graduates are prepared to work in development agencies, government departments, NGOs, and research institutions committed to transformative change in South Africa and Africa.
