Overview/Details

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport, Arts and Culture is making a limited number of sport scholarships available to talented athletes for the 2027 academic year. The scholarship is awarded to both learners in schools and students at institutions of higher learning, and athletes with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.

The Sport Scholarship Programme aims to keep and develop sporting talent in KwaZulu-Natal, and to give talented athletes from rural and historically disadvantaged areas the chance to excel in sport. It supports talented athletes from the province to reach podium positions at national and international competitions, and develops young people through education and skills programmes. It also gives athletes access to accredited skills development programmes that improve their opportunities for future employment and help to alleviate poverty.
