The Transnet Non-Technical Bursary Programme is designed to support the development of future professionals in non-technical critical and scarce skills areas. It targets high-achieving learners and students under the age of 25 who are pursuing full-time studies in select disciplines aligned with Transnet’s strategic needs. The bursary provides comprehensive financial assistance and is awarded annually.

Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • For Grade 12 learners:
    • Minimum Level 5 (60%+) in English and relevant subjects
    • Must intend to study one of the following in 2026:
      • National Diploma/BSc in Computer Science
      • National Diploma/BSc in Geographical Information Systems
      • National Diploma/BSc in Information Systems
      • National Diploma/BSc in Environmental Science
      • National Diploma/BSc in Data Sciences
      • National Diploma/BCom in Accounting Science
  • For current university students:
    • Must be enrolled in one of the above fields of study
  • Additional Competencies:
    • Effective communication (written & verbal)
    • Computer literacy
    • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Willingness to learn
    • Problem-solving skills
