The SAICA Thuthuka Bursary is designed exclusively for South African students aspiring to become Chartered Accountants (CAs). The bursary targets academically talented learners with financial need, assessed by NSFAS means testing. The programme funds undergraduate studies in CA-stream qualifications at accredited universities, aiming to develop the next generation of CAs in South Africa through full financial and academic support.

Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must intend to study towards becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Must be applying for the 2026 academic year funding
  • Must complete and submit the Thuthuka online application
  • Must pass the National Benchmark Test (NBT)
  • Must demonstrate financial need (assessed via NSFAS means test)
  • Must have strong academic performance
  • Must upload all required documentation

Required Supporting Documents:

  • Signed consent form
  • Applicant’s ID
  • ID documents of parents/guardians and dependents based on family income
  • Parent(s)/guardian(s) salary slip
  • Final Grade 11 results
  • Final Grade 12 results (if applicable)
  • Full university transcript (if already studying)
  • University provisional acceptance letter (for high school applicants)
