The JSE Empowerment Fund offers bursaries for undergraduate and honours‑level postgraduate students in key financial, data, and technology fields. The goal is to support students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds in building careers that align with capital markets, finance, data analytics, and technology sectors. The bursary covers tuition and related academic costs.

Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be registered full‑time for a degree in one of the eligible fields
  • Must be entering 2nd, 3rd, or Honours year in 2026
  • Must be studying at one of the following universities:
      University of Pretoria (UP), University of Johannesburg (UJ), Wits, UCT, UL, UKZN, UFS, UFH, NMU, NWU
  • Must achieve a minimum overall average of 70%
  • Household income must not exceed R650,000 per year
  • Must be from a previously disadvantaged background

  • Certified ID document
  • Full academic transcripts / record (including recent results)
  • Proof of university registration (on university letterhead)
  • Proof of household income (parents’/guardians’ payslips, affidavits if unemployed, proof of social grants/pensions)
  • Proof of residence
  • Affidavit confirming that all submitted information is accurate
