Sage South Africa is dedicated to supporting youth through financial assistance for their studies at registered public universities. This initiative aims to empower previously disadvantaged youth and those living with disabilities, promoting skills development and academic success.

The Sage External Bursary focuses on undergraduate studies in public universities across South Africa, with a particular emphasis on students with disabilities. It covers various costs associated with education, including tuition, accommodation, and study materials.

Eligible Fields of Study:

  • Information Technology
  • Accounting
  • Computer Sciences
  • Other fields for students with disabilities

Coverage: The bursary will assist with:

  • Tuition fees
  • Residence or private accommodation
  • Stationery and books

Academic Achievement Criteria:

  • Current Grade 12 learners with strong Mathematics and Physical Science marks
  • University students maintaining a high average

Requirements

  1. Citizenship:
    • Applicants must be South African citizens.
  2. Disadvantaged Background:
    • Must be a Previously Disadvantaged Individual (PDI).
  3. Admission:
    • Applicants must have applied for and been admitted to a public higher education institution.
  4. Family Income:
    • Family income should be between R350,000 and R500,000 per annum.
    • Students below this income bracket may be considered if they have not received a DHET bursary through NSFAS.
  5. Field of Study:
    • Eligible fields include IT, Accounting, and Computer Sciences.
    • Students with disabilities can apply for any field of study.
  6. Academic Performance:
    • Current pass rate should be 65% and above.
    • Exceptions may be made for students with disabilities, but the pass rate should not fall below the expected threshold.
  7. Funding Coverage:
    • The fund will cover current fees and historical study debt.
  8. Undergraduate Degree Programmes:
    • Computer Science / Engineering and Information Technology
    • Bachelor of Commerce (specializing in Accounting and Finance)
  9. Academic Achievement:
    • Current Grade 12 learners with Mathematics and Physical Science marks of 75% and above.
    • Current university students should maintain an average of 65% and above.
