The Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Accounting: Chartered Accountant at UCT is one of only a handful of South African undergraduate degrees accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) as the first step on the CA(SA) pathway. The curriculum moves well beyond school-level bookkeeping to focus on the judgement, analysis, and communication of financial information that drives decisions in South Africa's boardrooms, courtrooms, and public sector. Students learn to interrogate financial data for reliability, evaluate governance and internal controls, and apply tax and management accounting principles in real-world South African business contexts. After completing this degree, students proceed to the one-year PGDA at UCT, a three-year training contract, and SAICA's professional examinations.
