The Diploma in Public Affairs (Local Government) at TUT prepares students for careers in municipal and local government administration, covering municipal governance, community development, local finance, bylaws, and service delivery management. South Africa's 257 municipalities face persistent governance and service delivery challenges, and qualified local government practitioners are in sustained demand across the country. The programme is offered at Soshanguve South, Mbombela, and Polokwane campuses, giving students access across three provinces. Cooperative education includes placements in Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and other local government structures in Gauteng and Limpopo. Graduates are eligible to pursue further study toward the Advanced Diploma and postgraduate qualifications in Public Affairs.
