The BSc in Occupational Therapy at UCT is a four-year professional degree that trains graduates to help individuals overcome functional challenges arising from physical illness, psychiatric conditions, developmental delays, and injury — enabling them to live independently and participate meaningfully in work, school, and daily life. UCT's OT programme is deeply committed to community-based rehabilitation and occupational justice, reflecting South Africa's critical need for professionals who can work creatively in under-resourced settings as well as in private practice. Clinical training covers hospitals, community health centres, schools, workplaces, and home environments. After one year of community service, graduates register with the HPCSA.
