Overview/Details

The Allan Gray Fellowship Programme is aimed at high-achieving Grade 12 learners who demonstrate strong academic performance and entrepreneurial potential. The programme provides needs-based funding for university studies and extensive entrepreneurial development support. Fellows receive financial assistance as well as mentorship, leadership development, and access to business incubation opportunities to cultivate responsible entrepreneurship.

What the Fellowship Covers:

Financial Support (Needs-Based):

  • Tuition fees
  • University accommodation
  • Meals
  • Textbooks
  • Tutoring allowance
  • Monthly stipend

Applicants from households with a combined annual income of R1 million or less qualify for full funding. Those above R1 million may receive needs-based funding.

Entrepreneurial Support:

  • Personal Development Officer support
  • Entrepreneurial Leadership Officer guidance
  • Industry mentor
  • Access to online entrepreneurial curriculum
  • Annual entrepreneurship conferences and workshops
  • Access to business incubation
  • Potential venture funding through e squared

Partner Universities:

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be under the age of 21 in the year of application
  • Be currently in Grade 12 in the year of application
  • Have achieved a minimum of 60% in Pure Mathematics OR 80% in Mathematical Literacy (final Grade 11 results)
  • Have a minimum overall average of 70% for final Grade 11 results (excluding Life Orientation)
  • Intend to study towards a degree in one of the approved faculties listed below
  • Intend to study at one of the approved partner universities
