The Emalahleni Local Municipality External Bursary Scheme is aimed at supporting academically deserving and financially needy students from historically disadvantaged backgrounds residing within the municipality. The bursary enables recipients to pursue full-time undergraduate studies at any public South African university or TVET college.

Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen residing within Emalahleni Local Municipality
  • Must be between the ages of 18 to 35 years
  • Must have proven financial need (supported by payslips or affidavit)
  • Must intend to pursue full-time undergraduate studies at a public university or TVET college
  • Applicants must use the prescribed Emalahleni Local Municipality bursary application form

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Urban and Regional Planning
  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Horticulture
  • Microbiology
  • Environmental Management
  • Finance
  • Law
  • Water and Sanitation
  • Disaster Management
  • Developmental Studies

Required Documents:

  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified copy of Grade 11 results (if currently in Grade 12)
  • Certified copy of matric results (if Grade 12 completed)
  • Academic transcript (if currently in 2nd or 3rd year at a tertiary institution)
  • Certified copies of achievement/merit certificates
  • Proof of residence
  • Proof of financial need
  • Provisional acceptance letter from a public tertiary institution
  • Fully completed application form
