The Extended Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at NWU's Vanderbijlpark campus is a four-year programme providing students with additional academic preparation before progressing to the full IT curriculum. The extended year strengthens mathematical and computational foundations, ensuring students are equipped for the rigour of the IT degree. As South Africa pursues digital transformation and the growth of its technology sector, it requires a larger pool of IT graduates — particularly from previously disadvantaged communities. The Vanderbijlpark campus serves the Vaal Triangle's diverse student population, making this programme an important contributor to regional ICT skills development. Graduates are equipped for entry-level software development, IT support, and systems coordination roles.
