The NFVF bursary programme aims to develop skilled professionals in South Africa’s film and television industry. The bursary supports full-time undergraduate and postgraduate studies in TV/film disciplines at accredited South African tertiary institutions. The programme gives priority to students demonstrating financial need, strong academic records, and alignment with NFVF transformation goals.

Funding Covers:

  • Tuition fees (full)
  • Accommodation, meals, and other resources (capped at R50,000 total – applicable to first-year students only)
  • Textbooks and software (based on course requirements)

Non-Qualifying:

  • Travel expenses
  • Performing arts, acting, music, or dance courses

Requirements

  • South African citizenship
  • Completed and passed Matric
  • Registered or provisionally registered for a full-time film/TV diploma or degree
  • Good academic record (minimum 60% aggregate for continuing students)
  • Financial need (combined income less than R600,000 per annum)
  • Motivation letter and demonstrated career aspirations in film/TV
  • Preference given to public tertiary institution students
