The Diploma in Computer Science (Extended) at TUT is a four-year programme that includes a foundational year of academic preparation in mathematics, computer literacy, and communication skills, designed for students who demonstrate potential for computer science study but require additional support before entering the full diploma. The programme leads to the same outcomes as the three-year Diploma in Computer Science and opens the same career pathways in software development, data science, web development, and systems analysis. This extended pathway broadens access to the ICT profession for students from under-resourced schooling backgrounds, directly supporting South Africa's digital transformation agenda. Multiple campus offerings make the programme accessible across Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo.
