Details

The BA in Music Foundation at UKZN (Howard College) is a four-year extended programme designed for students from disadvantaged educational backgrounds who show exceptional musical potential but have had limited access to formal music training. The first year focuses exclusively on foundational music theory, ear training, practical lessons, and performance skills, building the knowledge base needed to enter the mainstream BA in Music degree. Preference is given to applicants from Quintile 1–3 schools, and no prior formal music training is required, making this programme a unique pathway for talented young South African musicians regardless of their background.
