The Extended BCom in Chartered Accountancy at NWU is a four-year programme offered at the Mahikeng and Vanderbijlpark campuses, providing an enhanced pathway into the CA(SA) academic track for students who meet the minimum entry requirements but benefit from additional academic preparation. The extended programme provides foundational support in the first year before progressing to the full Chartered Accountancy curriculum, ensuring all students have the strongest possible foundation for success in this demanding discipline. South Africa's CA(SA) profession remains critically short of black chartered accountants relative to the country's demographics, and this programme plays a vital role in broadening access to the profession. Graduates who complete the CTA Honours and SAICA board exams may qualify as a CA(SA).
