The Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television at Wits is a four-year professional degree offered through the Wits School of Arts, providing rigorous training in filmmaking, screenwriting, directing, cinematography, and post-production. Applicants must complete a portfolio submission and/or written assignment as part of the selection process. Screenwriter – Develops original scripts for South African television series, films, and streaming platforms including Showmax and kykNET, applying narrative storytelling and South African context.
Cinematographer (Director of Photography) – Frames and shoots visual content for South African film, television, and advertising productions, working with professional camera systems and lighting equipment.
Video Editor – Assembles and post-produces film, television, and digital content for South African broadcasters (SABC, eTV, kykNET), streaming platforms, and advertising agencies.
Documentary Filmmaker – Produces factual content on South African social, political, and cultural subjects for local and international broadcasters and film festivals.
