The Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Pretoria is a four-year professional degree in the Faculty of Humanities that qualifies graduates to practise as speech-language therapists, registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Speech-language therapists assess and treat communication disorders including stuttering, voice disorders, aphasia, developmental language delay, autism-related communication difficulties, swallowing disorders, and literacy challenges across all age groups. South Africa's high burden of neurological disease, traumatic brain injury, and developmental conditions creates significant demand for speech-language therapists across public hospitals, schools, private practice, and early intervention services. Admission requirements: English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 5 (60-69%); Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy: Level 4 (50-59%); APS: 32 (excluding Life Orientation).
