The Diploma in Industrial Design at TUT trains students to design products that integrate functionality, aesthetics, manufacturability, and user needs — skills applicable across furniture, consumer electronics, packaging, medical devices, and automotive components in South Africa's manufacturing and design sectors. Students develop competencies in 3D modelling, prototyping, materials knowledge, and design-process management, supported by cooperative education with product development companies and design studios. Graduates can work in multidisciplinary design teams or establish independent design practices.
