Details

The Bachelor of Social Science at UCT is a three-year degree oriented towards the systematic, evidence-based study of human behaviour, social structures, and the forces that shape societies. Majors span African Studies, Anthropology, Economics, Gender Studies, Industrial Sociology, Philosophy, Politics and Governance, Psychology, Social Development, Sociology, and the Study of Religions, giving students a rich toolkit for understanding and responding to South Africa's complex social, political, and economic landscape. UCT's social science programmes are deeply engaged with African realities and are led by scholars whose research informs policy, shapes public debate, and contributes to national transformation. The flexible structure of the degree allows students to develop genuine depth in two or more disciplines while building the research, writing, and analytical skills demanded by employers across the public and private sectors.
